Cooper CS5 GRAND TOURING Reviews

Cooper Logo
The CS5 GRAND features leading-edge advancements in tyre technology to deliver an even wearing, long lasting, yet quiet tyre, designed to fit most popular SUVs and cars.

Key Features

  • Wear Square Indicators change as your tyres wear, making it easy to determine the tread life remaining. This gives you convenience, confidence and safety you can see.
  • 3D Micro-Gauge Sipes allow the tread blocks to interlock for maximum stability, increased traction, handling and safety.
  • The Asymmetric Tread Design is built for easy rotation in all four corners of the vehicle, giving you a long-lasting, even wearing tyre and a quiet ride.
  • R-Tech Engineering, for high ride comfort, combines an extended and stiff bead filler in the lower sidewall with a Variable Density Nylon Overlay over the belts. This delivers crisp handling while maintaining passenger comfort. R-Tech gives you a safer, softer and smoother ride.
  • Next-Gen Silica Compound, with Adaptive Technology, provides extreme weather traction while delivering lower rolling resistance and improved mileage. The silica content is optimised to deliver more grip, improved safety and extended tread life.

great wear and longevity. great in dry conditions but woeful in the wet for torquey 2wd cars like the eclipse cross. had them previously on a Hyundai Tucson which was a match made in heaven.

On my second set as the first needed replacing under warranty. We tow a small pop up camper with not alot of towball weight. The rear tyres wore so quickly. They were rotated every 10k but could not do it more than twice as they wore that quick.

Very good wearing tyre. Previous 2 sets wore very prematurely and poor value. Always felt safe with the coopers. Particularly important for me as its my wife's vehicle and Madza have the dodgy small spare. A bit expensive though.

Drive Uber and do 300km a day sometimes around cities. Put 93,000 on them before they were worn right down. rotated them every 10,000, smooth and quiet right to the end.

Have worked in the automotive for over 20 years and all I can say is, never buy these tyres unless they are priced equivalent to an unknown tyre brand. Foremost, I am quite certain that most of the local AU reviews found on Google are not genuine and compared to long-term reviews on the US Tirerack, they are way overated. These tyres simply feel like riding on plastic and wet grip is so poor that I lose total confidence in wet handling in braking. They claim long mileage which may be true, but that is all there is to these tyres. Haved owned and driven more than 20 vehicles so far with experience in numerous tyre brands and models in various segments and grades, these Coopers CS5's are with no doubt the worst ever. I thought they were fake or copies having to look-up on the net for what the other reviewers had to say here in Australia.

On the 2nd set of these tyres for my wife's car. First set got approx 90,000kms and 2nd is looking likely to do the same. Highly recommend.

Bought these in January 2021. We live on a gravel road so driving anywhere means 10 to 15 km of gravel before reaching a bitumen road. Between April & May the tires have had 6 punctures with one of those a blowout. The other 5 were repairable. All 6 punctures have been the result of stones not screws, nails or other objects. I had to buy another tire to replace the one which blew out & within 1000 km the new tire had a puncture. These tires might be ok for a bitumen only driver but if you regularly travel on gravel roads buy another tire.

In dry weather these were average/OK. In the wet NO GRIP WHATSOEVER. I avoided hills and certain streets as slippage happened every time. When taking off from the lights in the wet, the wheels would spin. I had 1 accident & several close encounters in the wet, due to grip issues (not speed). A 2.0L Rav4 is by no means a performance vehicle. There were wet days where I simply wouldn't drive the car, due to confidence in tyre safety performance. This happened from day 1 of purchasing / fitting these tyres. They were rotated every 10,000Km. The Michelins before this set were infinitely better / safer & after 31,000km (even with loads of tread on them), will replace them with Michelins again. When I contacted Cooper with my concerns, I was met with negativity & no recourse. I would NEVER recommend CS5's for this vehicle (or any other for that matter).
