Mickey Thompson Baja Legend EXP Reviews
The Baja Legend EXP heralds a proven breed of performance in an all-terrain tyre as it combines unique design elements, technology and engineering. With that combination, this tyre is a cross between an all-terrain and a mud-terrain tyre to give you the grip and performance when you need it, while retaining remarkable on-road traction and low noise levels to get you down the road in comfort.
Key Features
- LARGE SURFACE AREA TREAD ELEMENTS WITH DEEP WIDE VOIDS - Provide biting edges for maximum traction off-road while the large channels expel water, improving wet grip on-road.
- FUNCTIONAL SIDEBITERS - These large sidebiters improve traction and reduce the chance of sidewall damage on any terrain.
- WIDE OUTER VOIDS WITH TAPERED TRANSITIONS - Offer a larger contact patch with the road, improving on-road performance when cornering.
- STONE EJECTORS AND BEVELLED EDGES - Stone Ejectors and Bevelled Edges fling dirt and small stones out of the tyre, ensuring they don't drill through to the carcass, reducing the chance of tyre damage.
- NEXT-GEN LIGHTWEIGHT HIGH TENSILE BODY PLIES - Next-Gen Lightweight High Tensile Body Plies on top of the light truck construction strengthens the carcass of the tyre, giving greater sidewall protection and tear resistance. It also improves ride comfort.
- CHEMICALLY-COUPLED SILICA COMPOUND - Mickey Thompson Tires use an exclusive compound recipe utilising Chemically-Coupled Silica. It lowers rolling resistance while enhancing wet grip and improving cut and chip resistance, working together to extend the tyre's life and durability.

Horrible, 3 flats though the tread face on extremely light duty gravel road. 15,000s all up but maybe 700ks of gravel. Maybe it's a fully batch but Mickey Thompson won't play ball at all so how could I tell. 2500$ down the drain and looking for new tires already.

I was in the market for a few weeks looking for the "best" tyre to suite my needs. After I was about to commit to another brand, I stumbled across the Micky Thompson Baja Legend EXP. At first I was unsure if it was the best fit and the price to be honest scared me, but now I can honestly say they are worth the cost and for what I do on a daily basis and on my days of, they are worth it. They may only be a 2ply sidewall but they are compliant and comfortable on the road whilst being tough as offroad and the grip is sensational in any weather and all types of terrain. After doing 10,000km on these tyres they are balancing well, wearing well and at this rate I'd expect to see at least 85,000km before needing new tyres. I absolutely recommend these tyres.

I’ve had these Baja Legend EXPS for 2 weeks and 1,500~ kms. They’ve replaced my BFG KO2s C load 285/70/17s, which I’ve had for almost 3 yrs and 20,000 kms tread depth was at 7-8mm when I sold em. They’re bigger than the KO2s by maybe an inch. They’re lighter than the KO2s by a few lbs. They’re quieter than the KO2s by a lot, I can actually hear my aftermarket exhaust now! They’re also much comfier than the C load KO2s, even though they’re E load tires. Starting tread depth is also much more at 15mm vs the KO2s 11mm(when new). Doesn’t hydroplane like the KO2s, grips better in the wet too and stops better overall. In comfort they’re almost as comfy as my Falken Wildpeaks on the other 4by but not as quiet. But these mickeys are a great alternative to the Falkens if you want to be different however its hard to pass up the value and performance of the Falkens. This is an overall better tire in ALL aspects than the KO2 excet in sidewall biter design, since the KO2s really have nice protected sidewalls.
