Tyre Review presents: Cooper AT3 XLT Long Term Review
We've driven the Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT for a good 13,000 km over mud, sand, rock gravel and highway terrain. In this video we go through our experiences and let you know our opinion on the Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT tyres long term review. I've been driving on these Cooper AT3 XLT's for about 13,000 k's now, and I've taken them on some adventures. We went up to the North east of Tasmania and got stuck and that wasn't the tyres fault though, and we've taken them on some serious gravel roads. But just after I got them fitted, one of the first things that I noticed was that they're actually a really comfortable tyre. And the way how I noticed that was by hitting the cat's eyes in the middle of the road. You know, those little reflectors. Jared Mendham: And so, as I hit some now and see if you can see if you can hear them. What I notice, compared to the previous tyre that I had on, you actually feel those cats eyes significantly less and that means that they're going to be more comfortable on the road. (Intro with music) Jared Mendham: That also translates to being more comfortable on the trail as well. So, I've noticed that on trials that I'd usually let the tyres down a little bit, I don't actually have to wear down at all, or very little, because they're a lot more comfortable on the trail. Jared Mendham: The Cooper AT3 XLT is a comfortable tyre but how does it go on the road? I've actually found that it's been really, really good on the road. I'm an aggressive driver as you may already know. I like to push things and these tyres have kept up with me. I did find on a really high speed trip down some gravel road it was just on the edge of the limit, that they did feel a little bit floaty, but other than that they've actually done a really good job. So, hard twisty corners, they've been fine. It hasn't felt floaty at all on high speed straights or whatever. And also, just around town they've just been normal, they've been fine. Jared Mendham: So, in the wet, they've also been very impressive. So I do a little test around roundabouts to see if the back of the Ute swings out, so you know, it's my seat of the pants, roundabout testing the damp, and actually it's quite difficult. You have to put a whole bunch of herbs back in to get the back end to swing out. And so they're actually really got a lot of confidence in the wet as well. Jared Mendham: So overall I'd actually really highly rate these tyres. The Cooper AT3 XLT definitely gets a 10 out of 10 for me. Cooper AT3 XLT Studio Review
We take a look in the studio at the brand new Cooper AT3 XLT in the studio, looking at the differences between it and its new sibling tyres, as well as the design features that Cooper have worked into the tyre. Full Transcript: - G'day, welcome back to tyre review. Today we've got the brand new Cooper AT3 tyre, in the warehouse. Now you might be thinking, hey there's already an AT3, that's been on the market for however long, and it's a well respected tyre, and people in the outback using that sort of stuff. But, this is actually a brand new one they've just released. And, they've split the old one into three different patterns. So, there's the AT3 4S, it's got a little sort of super score sort of thing. And the 4S is now an AT3 tyre that's for the highway, so more for highway driving but still has some off-road chops. And the AT3 XL and AT3 XLT are sort of the bigger brothers, the off-road. Apparently the only difference really is that the XL is smaller sizes and the XLT is larger sizes. But we did notice when we looked at it, the XLT does have larger sort of side biters or what are you gonna call these things. So there is some small differences in the tyre but that's probably because it's smaller tyres vs larger tyres. So this is the Cooper AT3 XLT which we'll be testing. And probably some of the biggest features that you'll notice in the tread is actually they've got these new sort of rugged shoulders. And then, on top of that, they've also got this little scarlet bit here and there, so you see how every second tread lug is actually recessed a little bit, and then they say they've got these amazing Aqua Vac Channels, so we'll see what they reckon about that but we'll see how that actually goes in real life, but these are supposed to get more water out of the tread than you might otherwise. So if you can see down in there. And then they've got the stone ledges, these bits here. Which are supposed to help to get stones out of the tread, which means that they're less likely to actually drill into the tread. And then finally, in terms of interesting stuff, right in here, they've got these little whisper groove shields, which they reckon make this tyre 20 percent quieter. Which is a bit crazy but anyway we'll see how it goes as well. So one of the things I did work on with this all-terrain tyre is making sure that it stays quieter over the whole tread life, rather than just being quiet to start off with. So one of the other things I've just noticed is that these tyres are actually M and S rated, so mud and snow rated, but they're not the new three peak, snow rating. So that means they won't be as good at sub-zero temperatures or you know, really close to sub-zero. So just keep that in mind if you're gonna be doing some snow driving when you're choosing your tyres next. So the other thing about these Coopers is they do come with an 80,000 k warranty and like all warranties in the tyre industry I encourage you to check the fine print and see what they actually cover, but they do have some warranty not just no warranty. So, again depending on what you're actually in to, that's worth checking. These tyres are going to go onto my personal Ranger, I've been working away through as many different all terrain patterns as I can with these long term tests. Each long term test is 10,000 k's and at the end of it we see how I feel about them or with the other tyres, how the other drivers feel about them, how they've performed day-to-day life as well as for some trips. So I'm actually excited to see how the Coopers go on my Ford Ranger, and I'll be reporting back to you in about 10,000 k's.

Is the Cooper ATT the best family touring tyre available? 10000km Long-Term Test!
We caught up with Jhon, who for the last 13,000km has been driving on the Cooper ATT Discoverer tyres. Cooper says, this versatile tyre is best suited to 80% road & sand / 20% Dirt and Mud. A quiet tyre yet adversely capable of getting off the bitumen for some fun! It is certainly on the more aggressive side of the everyday family tourer, so we were eager to hear Jhon's thoughts. Full Transcript: Jared: G'day folks, Jared from Tyre Review here and I'm with Jhon and Jhon has been rolling on the Cooper ATTs on his Toyota Rav4 for how long now? Jhon: I would say around 13,500 km. So decent amount of distance. Have they been on the blacktop? I've very much enjoyed them. They've given me a very safe feeling. Take this next left. We're actually heading to a little spot just near work where we can... this one, talk about the capabilities of the ATT and we're on now moving on to a gravel road. So how's it on gravel. I've taken them to a couple of parks here in Tasmania, Fortescue Bay, up to Mt Field. And they've just happily trotted along. Not really anything for driving off-road, but I have to say they've given me absolute pleasure to drive... So we're just doing a little bit of hubbles here. Yeah. So we're on some actual gravel now. So we'll come down to a little flat down here and then stop and have a bit of a chat and then we'll turn the corner. So in terms of comfort, how comfortable have they been in comparison to other tyre's you've brought on this car Before this, and I don't know if I can mention the other brands, but I had certain Duellers. I have to say that these are a lot more comfortable in that regard. There we go. And noise on the road, how do they fare? They are slightly noisy, but you would expect that with more of an ATT kind of tyre in that regard, but nothing, you can still hear each other talk That's right. Because these are all-terrain tyres that are meant for mid-size SUV's and full drives like the RAV4. And they've got a fairly nice, a nice caucus and good tread pattern. What about a sort of day-to-day driving? You notice anything in the wet or I guess that's a good question in Manhattan. How do they fare in the wet? When it just starts to rain? Like absolutely, with a dry period and it starts to rain, you obviously notice that they are a little bit slippery. But once that sort of disappears, they have a very good grip. I've given it a bit of a bit of oomph around certain roundabouts and they don't lose traction. So that's really good. And this is a front wheel drive RAV4, isn't it? Yes. Yeah. This is not a all wheel drive version. So if we get going now, I've got a little bit of a test for you. We have a rescue vehicle behind us I hope. That's right. Yes we do. And we've got a crowd of peahens over there that are paying attention. Let's go, John. Let's see how we go in this next little spot? Just for everyone's reference, John hasn't actually done this road before. This is sort of on my way home. So what are we looking at John? So this is Jared's private test track, is it? Yeah. Just a slight incline. Do you want to... which one, which way do you want to go? I'm going to cop out and say, we'll do the left one. Seeing that as a tool drive, do we take a left or a right? A right. Ah, might need a bit more of a run up. Yep, probably. We'll make sure that the person behind us doesn't... there we go. Okay. [inaudible 00:03:35]. There we go. I loved there in the front wheel drive. Yep. So it's done all right. And this is a fairly roughish sort of track so. It's good fun though. Yeah. Not sort of the native territory of the full-size four wheel drive that is the route for. Yeah. Just keep in mind that being from the Netherlands used to very flat roads, this is a very new to me. Blind choice. Yeah, I'll stick on the high side just to be sure. Because I don't think we have enough clearance. We'll be all right. A little bit of slippery today. Just taking a little bit of an edge there. Slow and steady, I would assume would be the best way to approach this. Yes, always. So let's say you're on four wheel drive tracks, unless you actually need a bit of a handful of rock put or a boot full of rock put. So now we have to go back down there, right? If you want to. No, we don't have to, but just pause here for a second. So who would you recommend these tyres for? Mostly people that drive an SUV and that want a tyre that is safe. You know, having a little kid myself, I want to have a safe car. People that do want to go to parks, have gravel road traveling, maybe a little bit of mud here and there, but nothing too serious. So yeah, your SUV CUV market would be absolutely perfect for this. I can highly advise to get these tyres. Yep. All right. Thanks Jhon. And hope that helps you guys at home.
