Yokohama Geolandar X-AT G016 Long Term Review

Yokohama Geolandar X-AT G016 Long Term Review

We've taken the Yokohama Geolandar X-AT G016 around the block for over 10,000K's. Playing around in mud, sand, on the farm & highway to see how the Yokohama X-AT's hold up. These tyres are designed as a balance between mud terrain tyres and all terrain tyres. Essentially making it a mud tyre in a business suit. Let's see how the Yokohama Geolandar X-AT G016 went during our long term review. Full Transcript: - Gudday, Jared from Tyre Review here, and I've spent the last 10,000 Ks on the Yokohama X-AT, that's the GO16 for those playing along at home. And we brought it up here because this is where it belongs. We're on a muddy track, and we've just got to the top of the thing and driven through a puddle that's right there. It's a bit bigger than your average puddle. The GO16 it's an interesting beast. It's halfway between the all terrain and mud terrain. So, at the start, before I actually started driving on this tyre, I actually spent a little while on the mud terrain, just to give it a bit of a balance because I've used the all terrain before, but I hadn't used the Yokohama mud terrain. And one of the things that I noticed about the mud terrain is it's the same as most mud terrains is that you can feel at low speeds. You can feel the tread prints and you can hear it at the highest speeds. And I was curious to see if the GO16 which is again, it's halfway between. So and it's also got the three ply carcass, which is very similar to the mud terrain tyre, but it's got a more all terrain tyre inspired tread pattern where you've actually got these sipes here, that are wider. So you're actually gonna be better off road, but they've actually got a denser packed tread block in the middle. So I really wanted to see what characteristics they pulled from the all-terrain and what characteristics they pulled from the mud terrain. And I've gotta say, I'm impressed with them off road. I can get dirty and I had some fairly serious little spots coming up here and we've taken them in the snow and that sort of thing before. They get dirty no problem. It's more on the road where I want to sort of talk about this a little bit more. So I'll get back in the car and we'll go for a drive down the hill and we'll talk to you again on the road. So we're on the gravel now, and these tyres also perform really well on the gravel. Like they're surefooted and I tend to drive fast as you know, and oh, sorry to the speed limit, and they're certainly well and truly capable of keeping up with me on that, and they're also really good on the blacktop. The only spots that I've found, where they, are not quite keeping in mind that these are an aggressive all-terrain or at time mud terrain, depending on hey, look at it, almost think of it as a, like they've taken the mud tyre and actually stuck it into a business suit or at least a polo shirt so that, it's a mud tyre carcass with the all-terrain tyre grip. but in the wet, they sort of exhibit a little bit of the characteristics of a mud tyre and a little bit of the characteristics of an all terrain tyre. So they've actually got a little bit of the mud tyre under steer, a little bit of the all-terrain tyre oversteer, so around a round about you can lose the tyre a little bit if you're going a little bit too quickly. You can lose the nose a little bit if you're going, if you're not putting your weight in the right place. So just be a little bit careful there. So drive to the conditions as you should be doing anyway, you shouldn't be driving like a nit like me, and also dry traction is just slightly down. And so I noticed on some quick corners, but also if you're doing a quick turn on the bitumen, then you may find that they're just not quite holding on as well as an all terrain would, but again, these are mud tyres in a business suit so what do you expect? But otherwise great tyre, can't see any real problems with them. They perform fantastically. And what I would probably recommend these tyres for is actually for the traditional Overlander. So have people who might be driving around the country, who would normally choose a noisy mud terrain tyre. Choose these, because these are the mud tyre carcass, but they've actually got a grip or trip patent that actually has some good grip, but it's still well and truly comfortable on the road and is not noisy. There is perhaps a little bit of tyre whine that you might notice at around about 80 sort of Ks or that's what I got. But that's not noticeable. And for the trade off that you get for a tyre like this, it's totally worth it. So that's my review. The GO16 X-AT from Yokohama. Thanks, y'all.

Unleashing the Yokohama Geolandar AT G015: Our Long-Term Review!

We're meeting up with Dave, who has been testing Yokohama Geolandar AT G015 tyres for a long term tyre review. Dave has driven the Yokohama AT G015 tyres for over 20.000k's on the road, gravel and in the mud. In this video we're going to put him on our local 4x4 track to find out what he thinks of the @YokohamaMotorsports tyres. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ For more reviews visit: https://www.tyrereview.com.au ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Full Transcript: - G'day, Jared from Tyre Review here. Today I'm sitting in the car with Dave. And Dave has been testing the Yokohama G015, all terrain tyres for about the last 20,000 Ks. These tyres are actually ones that we gave to Dave after our trip to the sand last year. So you might remember some of those videos that we did which we might be able to pop up here and tags. But Dave you've had them for 20,000 Ks now. In general, how have the Yokohama's been? - They've been quite impressive actually. They're exceptionally good on the highway and good in the wet. and I've been quite surprised on the gravel roads that they've been absolutely fantastic. They come in I think it is a 70% on road 30% off road sort of tyre. So yeah, they've been really good in that regard. - Of course so I'm thinking about on the road, start off with in the wet. You've got a dual cab you. Do you notice that they slip and slide a bit around the roundabout and that sort of stuff in the wet? - Not so much. They've been a really, really good tyre in that regard. I carry a toolbox with some recovery gear in the back. I did notice once I had that out and after a dry period it did rain. A bit of grease on the road, I did lose a bit of traction. But overall, they've been a really good tyre. I think if you had a canopy on the back and had a bit of extra weight continuously, you wouldn't have any issues with it. - Yeah. And just for reference, these are 265/70R17s you've got on the Hilux? - Yeah, that's right. They're a 265/70R17s. - Yeah. Awesome so and then you mentioned earlier that you tow a few bit so how do I do with towing? - Yes I towed a up to two tonne trailer, tandem trailer and also a camper trailer. So in between it took the both of those and they rate it up to two tonne, have been exceptionally good in that regard, especially again on gravel roads, on wet roads, highway and so forth. - Yeah, yeah. - I do a lot of towing through Central Highlands of Tasmania have been through snow and pretty average gravel conditions. And they've been really really good. - Yeah we went Dave came with us on that snow trip we did last year, as well, that was fantastic. What about on the gravel when you don't have a camper on? How do you find them on the gravel? - Really good. Every now and again with other tyres you do feel your vehicle especially vehicle it's light in the rear with these dual cab Hilux that just dips out a little bit you don't notice it too much with this tyres. - Yap - They've been very reliable and confident - Yap. - Tyre on in gravel conditions. - So I've got a challenge for you now we're actually sitting at the trial head of a fairly difficult trial. Okay, you to drive through while you talk me through how they're doing the mark. So we're just about to try this dirty bit, let's see how we go Dave. - Alright I've just got it at a in high four at this stage-- - Yap, so-- - So we can actually put it in light to control a bit of the slide. So this is our local little test track, which has a good array of interesting parts. But this is Dave's first time on the track so-- - First time. Yep. - Yep. - Off you go though. - Alright. So, how do you find them? On this sort of like we're going through a bit of a bogey pile at the moment? Do they sort of feel or are they? How do they go? - I felt like just before I mind you, I was just using compression from the vehicle to sort of control that a little bit down that descent. A little bit of sliding there. - Yep. - It should be fun coming back out if we come back the same way. We are. - I think-- - There we go then. - Yeah, lets see if we get lost. We're just about to go up a muddy slope after a little creek crossing. It's beautiful in here. Let's see how we go on this next little crossing. - Roger. - Not a crossing sorry. Next little hill. - Yeah. - So again looks pretty slippery so we'll see how we go-- - Its been raining-- - It's gonna be bumpy. - It's been riding downhill that's a hole. I don't think that hole was here last time. Full Transcript can be found on https://www.tyrereview.com.au/yokohama-geolandar-at-g015-long-term-review

Falken Azenis RT615K+ Long Term Review

Falken Azenis RT615K+ Long Term Review

We find out how the Falken Azenis RT615K+ tyres performed on Al's Subaru WRX. He's been using them for every day driving and on the track to give us a high performance tyre review of the Falken RT615K+. With well over 17,000 km's he's given them a good run through wet, dry and under performance circumstances. Let's find out how the Falken RT615K Plus ultra high performance tyres behaved once Al got really into using them. Full Transcript: - Jared from Tyre Review here. And, today we're doing a longterm review on the Falken RT 615K Plus. So, Al's been running these on his Subaru for the last, at least 10,000 K's. We'll check in on how far he's gone. I can hear him coming around the corner now. So, let's just see, hopefully he pulls into the right spot. . Here he comes. Hello. - Hello. - Say hello to the camera Al. - G'day guys, how are you doing? - So, Al you've been driving on these tyres for how long now? - I've done about 17,000 Ks over five months, six months. - And, day to day driving, you probably do what? 30Ks or 60Ks a day window? - Yeah, I used to but I recently moved. But yeah, I used to do about a 100Ks round trip every day. - And so, how did you find these tyres for sort of day to day living? - They were excellent. Until they got worn down about 15,000 Ks. I noticed the wet performance wasn't too good anymore. But, until then I had absolutely no problems at all in the wet and the dry. It was comfortable. - So, how did it degrade with the wet? - I noticed it definitely lost traction a lot in the wet, not even when it was raining just when the ground was wet, it started losing traction. And also, I did notice a fair bit of aquaplaning during very heavy rain. - And on the dry though, it seems like you stuck to the ground fairly well? - [Alister] Yeah. In the dry they're still perfect. - [Jared] I know that you took these to the track as well. How do they go on the track? - Oh, they were great. I gave them a good workout I reckon. They held all day. I did a fair few long sessions, probably 10 laps or more. And, I didn't notice any fade in the grip the whole time, which is impressive. - Yeah, that's amazing. And how, I mean, obviously these are not the R-compound. So, they're not designed for heavy track days and they're not that extra sticky sort of compound. How do they feel after the track days? - Yeah. So after the track day, I do feel there was a definite change. I don't know if it was the, like the corners of the sidewall. Maybe had worn down. There was a noticeable change in the road noise as well. It sort of sounded if you're familiar with, when you're going off road you let your tyres down. - Yes. - And then back on the road, the sort of like a squidgy rubbery sound. It started sounding like that afterwards. But grip is still about where it was. - Yeah right. So, they've changed a little bit. But, so it sounds like for somebody day to day driving, not going to the track, they'd be fantastic. Somebody choosing to go to the track and use them at the track and that's their job. It sort of sounds like they'd be pretty proper for both. - Yeah. Before I attacked them a little bit on the track, I thought we were on track to do 20, 25Ks, thousand Ks easily. - Which is pretty great for these tyres considering the low profile tread and all that sort of stuff. - Yeah, for ultra high performance tyres like these 15 to 20,000 it's fairly typical. - That's like a quarter of what I'm used to getting out of my tyres. - That's the price you pay. - Yeah, that's right. Any final thoughts for people who are looking at purchasing these tyres? - Yeah. So, for the price point they're probably about two thirds of the price of some other well known brands for the same performance. - Really? - I actually felt in the wet initially these performed better. So, I would actually, I would highly recommend these if you were putting them on a daily driver. - Awesome. Oh, cool. Well, thanks for your feedback Al and we'll see you in the next set. - No worries, thank you. - Thanks all.

We'll find out how the Cross Contact ATR's performed and handled on highway, gravel and other surfaces. We also hear from the real judges (the kids) as to how the tyres influenced their dad's driving ;) Chapters 0:00 Introduction 0:27 First impressions 1:04 Wet & dry performance 1:20 Handling 1:53 Tyre noise 2:40 Offroad performance 3:05 Final verdict 3:40 What the kids think For more reviews on the Continental CrossContact ATR https://www.tyrereview.com.au/continental-crosscontact-atr-reviews You can find us on: INSTAGRAM https://www.instagram.com/tyrereview/ FACEBOOK https://www.facebook.com/tyrereview WEBSITE https://www.tyrereview.com.au Full Transcript - Good day, Jared, from Tyre Review here, and I'm with Paul and Michelle and Paul and Michelle have been rolling on the Conti-CrossContact ATR in their Subaru Outback for the past six months? - yup. - It's been six months already. - Easily - yup - six months, yeah - And first impressions, What do you think of it? - I really like them, We like the way that they look on our car and - [Jared] You're all about looks - Definitely - Fair enough - I like that they have the little guards so that if you sort of skid off against a curve, it protects your wheels. - Paul does that a fair bit, does he? - Definitely - Yeah I do - Not me ever - No, no, no. - You don't have reputation at all. - And we got them put on the car not long after we got the actual car. So I haven't had a lot of comparisons but, they just feel like quite a good safe tyre. I feel like they're reliable in wet and dry conditions. - Yeah. Do you feel like they're sort of planted on the road in terms of like, you know, when you get spirited during driving Michelle? - Which is not very often. - Say Paul when you get spirited when you're driving? - Definitely like there's a few off-ramps on the highway and yeah, normally you sort of have to be on the brakes a little bit, but I don't know. They're pretty grippy. - which is pretty impressive given that they're kind of heading, well they're basically an all-terrain tyre for the soft Raiders or whatever these cars are called these days. - Yeah, that's what they call them. - What sort of, do you know what pressures you've been running them at Paul? - We've not had to add any pressure since they've been fitted to the car. So yeah. They've been checked a few times. - Yeah - so I suppose you stop pressuring on where you're going? - Yup. - [Jared] So it guys, what about the noise of these tyres? - Well, at our servo, where we can still get fuel pumped in by the lovely man that owns the place. - That's nice of him, the man that owns the store, pumps the fuel. - Yup. He has commented. Why would we put tyres like these on our car, and thinks that they would be really noisy, but neither Paul or I feel like it's been an issue. No? - No, not at all. - On the highway, super quiet. Like I was expecting quite like hum in the cabin of the car, but I'm really surprised. - Yeah, yeah. So like a good, fancy modern all-terrain that's actually is good for most things. - Yeah. Well, it's not just a gimmick play You see that claims that, you know our tyres are quiet, blah, blah, blah. But yeah, they actually are. - And I guess, given that they're an all-terrain tyre, have you actually had this in any mud at all? - Quite a few gravel roads and yet every chance I can get I'm looking for bigger puddles to venture through and you definitely hear the mud clearing very quickly. And yeah, it's evident down the side of the car when we returned from a few day trips. - And it stays grippy? - Yeah, very. Like I've struggled to get the wheels to spin, to be honest. - Yeah okay. That's pretty cool. Any final thoughts on these tyres, the Conti-CrossContact ATR? - I would recommend them to people just looking for safe, reliable, all round tyre and it would've been nice if we'd maybe taken them on a few more dirty tracks, but we just haven't really had the time. But I think they're good. - Yes and by the sound of it, you're actually going to keep them in the shed until you can put them back on again. - Absolutely. - Well, that's a pretty good way of ending this. Actually, no, hang on. We've got to find out what the kids think. So let's see what the kids think. So, Felix, what do you think about these tyres? Are they good? - Yeah - What do you like about these tyres? - [Michelle] What do you like? - Do you do you like how chunky they look? - Yes - Yeah. Do you think they're nice and quiet? - Yes - Do you think they make daddy a faster driver? - No - No? What do you think of that? - Yes - Yeah, they're good? You think they make mommy a safer driver? Yeah? I was waiting for you to shake your head on that one. So do you think people should buy these tyres of yours? - Yes

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 Long Term Tyre Review

We've got the long term review of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres for you today. Grant has been driving on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 for well over 10.000km's now with his Renault Megane RS 265 Cup. Having had a series of 'fast' cars, Grant is no stranger to driving on performance tyres and giving them a proper workout. We're meeting up with him to find out how he rates the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and how they performed under different circumstances. Jared from Tyre Review here, and I'm with Grant today and Grant's been spending the last six months or so - Yeah - doing 10,000 Ks on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 in his so Renault Megane? - [Grant] Renault Megane 265 Cup car that's, yeah, RS sport car out of Renault. - [Jared] Yeah. Right. So how many kilowatts has it got? - [Grant] 200 - 200.. - All through the front wheels. So it can be a bit of a handful, but awesome car to drive, great road handling. - [Jared] And you've got a tradition of having fairly fast little cars haven't you? - Well I've had a range of them. Subaru WRXs, Porsche, some Porsches. Hey, few different things. - That's not bad. That's not bad at all. So in terms of the tyre on this car, how do you feel like they've performed for your day-to-day living? - Um. Since I put them on that was really a um. Straightaway it was a totally different car to drive The old tyres that I had on it really had no confidence in the dry, very little feedback. Since I put these on, feedback through the steering wheel was great grip levels and confidence with that has been awesome. Just been a pleasure to drive and total change to the way the car, car actually runs. - Yeah, so for taking them for a joy ride through the hills. - Ah, awesome. Yeah, it's a car that you can really push through the corners and have a lot of confidence, yeah you turn into a corner grip level straight away high, yeah changing road conditions through the corner, tyres just don't even think about giving up. I mean just hold on and hold on. So then the feel feedback through the steering wheel through those corners is just amazing. - What's the under steer characteristics of this car usually? - Um pretty, pretty neutral. Really?! - Yeah. That's good. - So certainly with these tyres on it's been pretty, pretty neutral. The old tyres. Yeah. It just was quite variable, I must say. - And the tyres, had the old tyres seen some wear and where were they've sort of, - That were actually I was gonna say probably 50% of the way through their life and they were just very, very horrible. Then they were average in the dry, in the wet diabolical. Couldn't wait to get rid of them. - Really? - Yep. Absolutely. - How long that give, you've done about 10,000 cars now, if you sort of had to look to see how much longer do you reckon your car on these tyres? - I look I'd say I'll get good 35000 K at least at this point in time. - That's pretty amazing for that grip level in this sort of car. - Ah, yeah And I look out to drive this every day to work, it's about a 70 kilometre round trip on open roads windy open road, so yeah. If I can do the speed limit, I'm doing the speed limit. - Very funny. - Yeah, it is a daily fun, so - So who would you recommend this tyre for the Michelin Pilot Sport 4? - In all honesty, general drivers, it's a great tyre from that perspective but if you had someone that wanted to have a bit more fun with a car that like this that you can actually have a bit of fun in it's a tyre that really suits that as well. I haven't actually had to go on the track with this yet, but with these tyres Just judging what it's like in the, on the dry roads. It's, yeah. I'd say anyone that wants to, yeah is a more adventurous driver if you want to say it that way. These tyres really suit. - Very well there's a track day coming up on the 21st here in at Baskerville so we might see you out there. - [Grant] That sounds like a good plan. - So Grant, you know, they're awesome, they corner well, they grip to the road well. What are the downsides of these tyres? - Um, probably really only noticed two, first one would be really that the road noise, certainly on, you know course chip sealed roads, the noise levels are probably a little higher than I might've anticipated. - In comparison to these previous tyres that you love so much. - Oh, not in comparison to others that I've had, you know it's just a bit noisier, but it could be partly the design of this particular car being a two-door.

Maxxis Razr AT ~ Long Term Review

Maxxis Razr AT ~ Long Term Review

We did more than put the latest Maxxis Razr 811 AT to the test, we punished it! In this long term review, Jared talks about the latest all-terrain tyre from Maxxis and how it has stood up to 10,000km of day to day travel plus the off road tracks of southern Tasmania! Need to know more? Check out our full written review over here: https://www.tyrereview.com.au/maxxis-razr-at811-long-term-review Note that the puncture that was fixed in the video was caused earlier by running over a glass bottle on the verge of a road, and Jared hadn't got around to fixing it yet 🙄 We also don't recommend fixing punctures in the side wall, unless you're actually out on the trail and really need the tyre, as this type of puncture repair isn't 100% fail safe. ~~~~~~~~~~ Jared: G'day, Jared from Tyre Review here and I've been rolling for about the last eight and a half thousand Ks on the Maxxis RAZR AT, so not the MT, it's the AT. So it's a slightly more aggressive pattern than what they normally have. So the 771, that sort of thing. And I've actually been remarkably impressed with these tyres. I was worried because you know, they're slightly more aggressive patterns are sometimes not as good in the wet, but on roundabouts, slow speed, they've been really good. There's been a touch of a little bit of understeery oversteery if you give it a bit too much with the right boot. But I mean, you shouldn't be doing that any way. You should be driving to the conditions. Everyday driving, they've actually been really good. So a little bit of noise, but not as much as I was expecting given the aggressive pattern. So again, marginally more noise than your average all terrain but nothing to complain about. Because the pattern is aggressive, they have actually been really good off-road so we've just come through some fairly serious tracks. And we managed to roll one off the rim. Oh, no. I was coming up here and it sort of slid to the right and I didn't notice it had come off the bead and gave it some welly. Lot's of welly's and- Was it the driver or the car? A combination of both, I guess. So around the front, I have managed to put some glass in one as well. Probably had the most adventurous time with these tyres that I've had yet with any of the tyres that I've tested, but I've given them hell and they've come back for more. So, the Maxxis RAZR AT I would certainly recommend as a great aggressive all terrain tyre for pretty much anyone who's actually going to be getting off the beaten track more regularly than not. So, yeah. Maxxis RAZR AT. Go out and get them! ~~~~~~~~~~ What camera do we use: https://www.canon.com.au/cameras/eos-r5 What audio device do we use: https://zoomcorp.com/en/us/handheld-recorders/handheld-recorders/h6-audio-recorder/ http://www.rode.com/wireless/filmmaker

We tested the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT & they DESTROYED the tracks!

So this is the new Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT, which was released in 2019. The Baja Boss MT is an aggressive Mud-Terrain tyre that demands road presence and destroys even the most challenging off-road tracks. We saw this tyre at the SEMA show in 2019 and was pretty taken back by it. We have had this tyre on our test Land Cruiser 200 Series for over 17,000kms now. This is the newest, most aggressive mud terrain that you can drive on the road but it's as soon as you get off the road, that this tyre really comes into its own! ~~~~~~~ Transcript. Jared: Good day, everyone. We're up here in the South West, and I'm with Chris. Chris has been rolling for the past few months. Chris: Yeah, probably eight months, I suppose, on this now. Jared: How many ks? Chris: About 17,000 now on these tyre's. Jared: On the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss. So, Chris, what do you reckon about it? Go overall for general day-to-day life. Chris: Look, obviously, we don't all drive in the mud all the time everywhere. Jared: Really? Chris: Yeah. Well, I try. It doesn't show, but yeah. Look, on the road, these tyres have been quite, for a mud tyre, amazingly, they've worn well. I mean, I've tormented them pretty badly, touring up big hills, rocks and, obviously, what we've done today, mud and so on and so forth, sand everywhere. Look, overall, I've tested a lot of mud tyres, but these are fantastic. I'm really, really happy with them. The kilometres I've done on them today, the wears, they've been excellent. I mean, I've rotated them every 10,000 ks. Jared: You have rotated them? Chris: Yeah, yeah. I've rotated them, which is necessary with mud tyres because otherwise, they'll get a bit noisy. Look, I [inaudible 00:01:07] them. Honestly, the first set of Mickey Thompson I've run on for years, and yeah, 10 out of 10, I reckon. Jared: How were they in the wet, like around roundabouts and that sort of stuff? Chris: Interesting you say that. I was a bit concerned. Most mud tyres can be a bit understeer-y, but I've actually found them really, really, really good on-road wet grip. Jared: Yeah. I mean, luckily, you've got an all drive, so it'll be interesting to see how they go in a dual [inaudible 00:01:30] like mine or something like that, but sure, sure. Chris: But I mean, I've even had them on like on my Land Cruisers in the past, had other brands of tyres, and you get that under steer through the roundabouts, where these don't tend to do it, so yeah. Jared: Interesting, which, considering how aggressive they are, because these are the most aggressive tyre's that Mickey Thompson make in terms of on the road stuff. Jared: What about comfort? Chris: Yeah. Well, look, as I said, I mean really, as far as comfort goes, the suspension handles a lot of that, which- Jared: Your car has a bit of a rig when it comes to suspension, so maybe comfort's a bit moot. Chris: I suppose noise is probably the biggest consideration. As far as the noisy tyre goes, these things are fantastic. Look, for a mud tyre and for a really aggressive mud tyre, I'd go for them. Jared: I don't think there's anything more that folks would want to know, but if you want to know anything more, stick a comment down there, and we'll get in touch with Chris and get some feedback for you. But Mickey Thompson Baja Boss, two words? Chris: 10 out of 10. There's three words there. Thanks everyone. ~~~~~~~~~~ What camera do we use: https://www.canon.com.au/cameras/eos-r5 What audio device do we use: https://zoomcorp.com/en/us/handheld-recorders/handheld-recorders/h6-audio-recorder/ http://www.rode.com/wireless/filmmaker
