It's the new one just released. It's new, but based on the same sort of formula. So it's, Pirelli's green performance tyre. That means you can still have fun with it, but it's going to last you longer than say one of their peak performance tyres. Can't push it as hard as one of those, but it's going to last longer on the road for regular driving. It's interesting. So I was talking to one of the Pirelli guys before, and basically they release a sort of a facelift update on these tyres every three to four years. And so, they release it and then they actually start working on it pretty much straight away. So they're always working on the next version of this tyre and probably most of the other tyres out there as well. So it's interesting to know about that cycle. So this is an updated version. They're saying it's going to be better in the wet, and it's going to have reduced road noise. They actually have to release these new versions every three or four years, because they have to keep up with various emission standards. So, for instance, in this case, it's actually the Euro emission standards. And so a key factor of that this year, or this time, was the drive by noise. So they've worked to reduce that in this tyre. But they do say it's actually reduced braking distance by about four metres and it's got better fuel efficiency. So, you know, all the usual little increments that you're expecting to see. So you can see if we look at the tread, that this actually is a performance tyre. So it's got these three consistent ribs that go all the way through. You don't see any of those bigger voids that you might see in a regular passenger tyre. It's got two hefty shoulders. It's actually an asymmetrical tyre. So you've got an outside and an inside of the tyre. And so it's still got sipes. So it's still gonna evacuate the water pretty well. And these big channels running through will help evacuate the water. So, you know, that's probably why it's better at stopping the wet, because they have actually updated the compound on this as well. So, there's lots of little tweaks to sort of that formula that we know and love. So this tyre comes in an increasing range of sizes and actually they build a lot of these for OE as well. So making them for OE means that they come on new cars. And they actually design specific tyres, so variations of this tyre, for specific cars. So interestingly enough, they might actually have a slight camber on them or a difference in the tread pattern, that actually makes up for little bits and pieces that happen on the car. So, they might go and make the car, and all these design and all these little components come into it. And then, it's actually down to the tyre to make up for any little variations that might happen right at the end. So that's where the OE homologation comes in. Particularly with vehicles like, you know, the xDrive or the Audis, with their transmissions that are a little bit finicky about what sort of tyres go on there. So something to keep an eye out for. But anyway, so this is Pirelli's new or updated Pirelli Cinturato P7. It's their green performance tyre. And we're going to put it on our Renault Megane test vehicle and see what Grant thinks about it. So, tune in at about 10,000ks, to see that long-term review.

Full transcript - Gudday. Today in the warehouse we've got the Falken ZIEX, Zeex, seis, seeks, ZIEX CT60. So today in the warehouse we've got the Falken ZIEX Zeex, I don't know how you actually say that. Falken, you wanna let me know!? Falken ZIEX CT60. And this is a new tyre for Falken. It's part of the ZIEX family, but it's aimed heavily at the SUV market, which is a boom market, as we all know. And so Falken really are putting a bit of, or a lot of marketing and push behind this tyre because for them it's a big segment that they really want to get into. So the ZIEX comes in tyre sizes between 215/65R16 to 255/50R20. I've got it written up there in case you see my eyeballs going up there, so again, breaking the third wall. They also say that they've got advanced tread compound, which is theoretically gonna equal shorter braking distances in the dry and the wet, shorter versus what, I'm not sure, but shorter breaking distances, yay. And they reckon that it's gonna be more durable and reliable for the everyday driver. So this is one of those new range of tyres we're seeing coming onto the market that have all of these, and that it's more obvious that they're actually putting more work, or more obvious work, into the tyre and trying to make it last longer, because people have more choice now than ever before, particularly in this sort of segment. So let's take a quick look at the tread pattern. You can see here it's made up of one, two, three, four, five central ribs or, yeah, two outside ribs and three central ribs. And you can sort of see it from the outset, it's actually gonna be a quieter tyre because right here through these outside ribs, you can see there's very little actual gaps through the outside block for noise to leak through. And on this side, it actually has no gaps whatsoever. So that's gonna make it both quieter, but also it means that there's no noise gonna be or less noise is gonna be leaking out through the outsides of the tread. Yeah, so that should be really good for cornering based on looking at the tread, because they've got these five consistent tread ribs that are going around the tyre. Also, you can see these four deep channels, which means that they should, theoretically, be good for ejecting water out from the tread pattern. And the other interesting thing is actually just even feeling the rubber. I never thought I'd be into fetishes or anything like that, but they're actually a really tacky compound. So that means that, theoretically, they'll be better for sticking onto the road. But it'll be interesting to see how long they last in terms of longterm wear. So we'll get a tread depth on this one and actually see how we go. So that's the Falken ZIEX CT60. We're gonna stick these onto a Subaru Outback for a longterm test. They're coming from a set of All-Terrains to a set of these. So it'll be interesting to see how the reviewer reckons that they differ between the more aggressive tyres versus these, which are more SUV, so passenger-focused. The Kumho MT-71 tyres will be put onto our long term 200 Series Landcruiser for a good 10.000km review. Full Transcript: - Today in the warehouse, we've got the new Kumho Road Venture MT-71. Hey folks at home. It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of chunky rubber. And this is some of the chunkiest rubber that I've seen in a while. It's the new mud terrain tyre from Kumho. It's the Kumho Road Venture MT71. And now this is a brand new tread pattern from them, it's supersedes I think it's the old KL71, so that one's gonna be disappearing. This one's gonna the new one and you could certainly say that it's a lot more aggressive than the old KL. So even though they're saying it's newer and more aggressive, they're actually saying it's still low road noise for a mud terrain tyre so, interesting to see how low road noise this is. Once I actually show you the tread pattern, you'll understand what I mean by that. Why the little fingers going up and down. And they're also saying there's gonna have extra durability and cut and chip resistance. And so in terms of sizing, it's actually generally on your lighter sizes. So in Australia at the moment we have between 31 inch and 35 inch tyres, but it is only just coming out at the market at this stage so that may increase as they bring more ties into the country. So let's take a look at the tread pattern. Come over here, come over here, come on, come on. That's it. That's it. So looking at the sidewall to start off with, it's interesting because they've actually got a super aggressive sidewall. It's actually the same on both sides, but they've sort of got these little crown shaped things going in looping patent and they actually stick off the sidewall by maybe five mil or something like that. Maybe even six mil if I'm being accurate. And so that's really gonna help you dig out of those ditches. And it's probably some of the most aggressive sidewalls that I've seen in a while. Quick update, since filming this video, we found out that Kumho's actually offering this tyre in three ply in most of the sizes, however, some of the sizes are actually only two ply sidewall. And so that's all of the 15 inch size tyre, so that's the 31, 33, 35 inch tyres in the 15 inch, and also the 255/75R17 is also only two ply sidewall. The rest are three ply. And apparently they're actually releasing more sizes once this whole coronavirus thing comes down. So look out for them anyway, back to the office. I think this has been designed for the Australian market, because look at these boomerangs. It's basically got this set of alternating boomerangs one, two, and then repeated again and again and again and I think actually now that I think about it, that's actually the Kumho logo isn't it? I'll have to confirm that one folks later on, but look at the massive void in this tyre. This is approximately 33 inch tyre, but I can almost fit two fingers in that one. And then we've got alternating blocks here as well. And you can see alternating skull of patterns here as well. So this is super aggressive. If you don't rotate this tyre, you're gonna know about it, so make sure you rotate this tyre. Only five or 10,000 Ks at the most. You can also see here they've got these ejectors which are actually gonna help really get the mud and crap out of the tyre pattern. So we're actually sticking this onto our longterm test rig, which is the 200 series big black land cruiser. And it'll be interesting to see how they go in terms of road noise but also on the road for the daily commute and also off the road as well. Yokohama Neova AD08R Studio Review

We take a look in the studio at the Yokohama Neova AD08R semi slick tyre - what sets it apart from other tyres, and what's the marketing guff from Yokohama about it. It'll then be equipped to our Tyre Review Subaru WRX STI for a long term test over at least 10,000km. Full Transcript Welcome to Tyre Review. Today we've got some new tyres in the workshop to go on our test Subaru STI. These are the Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08 Rs. These tyres are basically semi-slicks. They're as close as you can get to a race tyre, but for a road going type car. This means that you can use your car during the week when you want to go to work, but then you can also use it on the weekend it when you want to use it on the track. Normal race tyres they can only go through one heat cycle, which means that they can get hot, and they're really good, but they can only do that once. Whereas, semi-slicks like these ones are able to go through lots of heat cycles, which means that you can take them out to the track on lots of different occasions. They work really well for both situations. They're a good cost saving measure for those who want to get the maximum performance out of their car, but not pay for race specific tyres every time they go out to the track. These tyres have a single uni block outside edge, which means you can see here there is always some sort of outside edge of the tread pattern on the road. There's no grooves in here, which means they're gonna have much better roads sticking capability. It also features a new R compound, which has much better initial grip, and better handling, and much better lap times. This tyre has more carbon for dry traction, more silicone for wet traction, but it also has Yokohama's trademark Orange Oil technology. What they've done is they've squeezed a whole bunch of these things, or some sort of citrus, and they've injected Orange Oil into their tyres, which means that they're actually much better for in the wet, but they also maintain some longevity as well. They actually get more miles out of tyres that have Orange Oil in them. We're really excited to get these tyres onto our Subaru STI both for day to day life because that would [inaudible 00:01:46] driven about 40ks to work and back, but also on the track. We'll be taking them out to Baskerville to actually see if we can better our lap time as we got on our previous tyres, and see exactly how they feel on the track as well. We'll be using them day to day in our long term test.

Pirelli scorpion AT+ Studio Overview

We take a look at the new Pirelli Scorpion AT+ in our studio. Pirelli reckons this tyre is bigger and badder than the previous Scorpion ATR, but what makes it better? Take a look as we give it a once over. Full Transcript: Gudday, and welcome back to Tyre Review. Today in the warehouse, we have got the new Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus. Now this is the update from their previous all-terrain tyre, which was the Pirelli Scorpion ATR. So ATR is the old one, AT Plus is the new one. The ATR was actually a reasonably well-rated tyre on Tyre Review. It's actually got 4.1 out of 5 stars last time I checked. So this tyre has got to do pretty well to actually get better than that. Pirelli's pretty stoked with it obviously. It's a brand new tyre, so they're talking it up. But they're saying that it's really good off road, so good for rocky, sand, and general sort of off road terrain that's not full mud terrain sort of stuff. But they're also saying that it's really good for on road as well. But taking a closer look at the tyre, Pirelli's says they've designed this tyre to actually eject everything out the sides, so mud, rocks, water, the lot. They've designed it to be a more aggressive tyre that's actually going to clear itself out much better than the previous tyre. They also point out that it's got a newly reinforced carcass on the side here. The tread blocks here on the upper side will make a really aggressive ... or more aggressive. So I actually quite like the look the those, because they look great when you're in the mall, but they also might be more likely to bite into the terrain if, say, you're stuck in a rut or whatever off road. These tyres are also a three-peak mountain snowflake rated, which means that they're certified for conditions beyond what normal mud and snow tyres would be able to handle. So they're supposed to provide better traction on snow than most other tyres would do. And maybe this is actually something to look out for because, hey, I live in Tasmania and we get snow here every now and then. Even snow on the beaches. So if I get stuck in snow, then I want a tyre that's three-peak mountain snowflake rated, because it means that I'm more likely to not get stuck. I also really like the look of the tread pattern on this tyre. You can see that it's obviously quite widely spaced, so they've got good space here for ejecting rocks, mud, snow, etc. But they've also got a good continuous tread pattern. Whichever cross-section of the tyre you take, there is always a lot of tread on the road, which means that they're going to be nice and quiet. They're also going to offer a lot of on-road grip. And these sipes here are also supposed to give you extra grip when you're on the road as well, because they're supposed to lock together and provide really solid tread blocks. But also off road, help it to conform around rocks and that sort of stuff. So Pirelli says this is a really good tyre in off-road situations. It says it's a really good tyre in on-road situations. So have they been successful in making the unicorn of all-terrain tyres that's perfect in all worlds? We're going to find that out. This is actually going in on the Ford Ranger, Tyre Review Ford Ranger as our long-term test tyre, which means we're going to be running for more than 10,000 Ks. It's also one of the tyres that's participating in our Tyre Review winter adventure, which is going to be on the west coast of Tasmania this year, which we're really, really excited about. So we'll give it a hell of a thrashing during that and then report back to you about exactly what we thought about the tyre during that time.
