BFGoodrich ALL-TERRAIN T/A KO3 Reviews

BFGoodrich Logo

The BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 represents the pinnacle of all-terrain tyre evolution, building upon decades of racing heritage and real-world testing in the world's most demanding environments. As the worthy successor to the legendary KO2, this third-generation tyre has been meticulously engineered around BFGoodrich's three pillars of performance: tread-wear, toughness, and traction.

Key Features

  • Enhanced CoreGard Sidewall Technology – Race-derived split and bruise-resistant rubber with extended shoulder coverage and advanced deflection design protects against punctures, tears and sidewall damage on the most demanding terrain.
  • Superior Tread wear & Longevity – New all-terrain compound combined with optimized footprint and full-depth 3D locking sipes deliver even stress distribution and uniform wear for extended tyre life both on-road and off-road.
  • Exceptional All-Weather Traction – Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake certified with serrated shoulders, interlocking tread elements and advanced siping provides confident grip in dry, wet, mud, snow and ice conditions throughout the year.
  • Advanced Off-Road Performance – Aggressive tread design featuring mud-phobic bars, shoulder scoops and larger water channels deliver maximum traction and self-cleaning capability on soft, loose and uneven surfaces while maintaining control.
  • Refined On-Road Comfort – Redesigned tread pattern and optimised footprint significantly reduce road noise and vibration compared to previous generation, delivering a remarkably quiet and comfortable highway ride without sacrificing capability

After fitting a set of BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 tyres to my 4WD, I’ve put them through exactly the kind of conditions they’re built for—rocky climbs, soft sand, muddy tracks, and plenty of highway driving in between. After several months of real-world use, I can confidently say these tyres have exceeded expectations in ways that matter to both serious off-roaders and everyday drivers. What stands out immediately is their off-road capability. The traction is exceptional, particularly in loose and uneven terrain. On steep, rocky inclines where lesser tyres would slip or struggle for grip, the KO3s maintain consistent contact and control. The sidewall design really proves its worth here too—there’s a reassuring toughness when navigating sharp rocks or rutted tracks, reducing the chances of potential punctures. In muddy conditions, the tread pattern is noticeably effective. Instead of clogging up and losing grip, the tyres shed mud very well for an AT Tyre, quickly, maintaining traction and forward momentum. Sand driving is equally impressive; airing down provides a wide, stable footprint that glides over soft surfaces without digging in. On-road performance is excellent for such an effective off road tyre. While there is some road noise—it’s far from intrusive, especially at highway speeds. Handling remains predictable, and braking feels stable even in wet conditions. For a tyre that leans toward off-road performance, the balance they strike on sealed roads is genuinely useful for daily driving. Durability is another major strength. The rubber compound feels robust without being overly stiff, and tread wear has been minimal despite a mix of harsh terrain and long-distance travel. These tyres give the impression they’re built to last, making them a solid long-term investment rather than a short-term upgrade. What I appreciate most is how confidence-inspiring they are. Whether you’re heading off the beaten track or just dealing with unpredictable road conditions, they consistently deliver reliable performance. They don’t just look aggressive—they back it up with real capability. And unlike the old KO2's (towards the end), they dont need rebalancing after every off road adventure. Overall, the BFGoodrich KO3 is a standout choice for anyone serious about off-roading but still needing a tyre that performs capably in everyday use. They combine toughness, traction, and on-road manners into a package that genuinely enhances the driving experience.

We have had 8 sets of KO2 tyres across several hilux and 76 series vehicles and loved them. Have put 2 sets of KO3 on our 2 hilux utes with allot of gravel/dirt road use and they are great. However the near new KO3 tyres are like driving on ice in the wet and are completely dangerous and unsafe on sealed roads and we will be looking at other options in the future. Sorry situation with no reply after lodging complaint with Michelin a week ago.

Took the shark to Yeagarup dunes and it blew me away on the sand. A lot had to do with the performance of the vehicle but no issues with these tyres in soft sand.

The shark is a heavy electric and road noise is noticeable if present. The KO3s are next to quiet. They struggle in the mud but still clear enough tread to put up a fight. A definite advancement over the legendary KO3s.

If my 2003 Landcruiser Prado 120 could talk, it’d be raving about its KO3s like a foodie talks about their air fryer – endlessly and with deep, passionate devotion. These BF Goodrich All Terrains aren’t just tyres – they’re confidence in a circular form.First off, they look the part. Rugged, tough, and downright sexy – like a tyre that could wrestle a crocodile and still rock up to dinner clean. And yet, despite their aggressive tread, they’re surprisingly refined on the road. Comfortable? Yep. Quiet? For all that grip, they’re practically whispering.I’ve thrown everything at them – wet roads, muddy trails, rocky climbs, and even a beach or two – and they’ve gripped on like a toddler with a lollipop. They’ve worn well too. I’d almost say too well – I keep checking them, thinking surely they should be looking worse by now. But no, they’re just built different.Yes, they’re at the top end of the market, but for good reason – these tyres don’t just tick boxes, they off-road stomp all over them. Honestly, they’ve turned my trusty Prado into a terrain-conquering beast. So, if you’re reading this and sitting on the fence about the KO3s – hop off, get a set, and prepare to fall in love. Just don’t tell your partner you love your tyres more than them… unless your partner’s also into off-roading. In which case, marry them AND buy more KO3s.BF Goodrich – take my moola. Or better yet, give me those new tyres so I can keep living the dream. My 'Monochrome Maverick' Prado is ready for a new set of black and white BFG's.

I have 265/70 17 on my hilux i find the tyres great in the sand and mud. Good in gravel and dirts roads but found after some wear and tear they were quite dangerous on wet roads particulary roundabouts sharp corners in built up areas. If i had the funds now to be honest id like to throw some maxxis or nittos on and give them a go.
