Genuinely a great all round mud tyre especially at the lower end of the price range, but it comes with some caveats. On Road - Excellent performance in the dry. Braking is very good and it very grippy in a straight line. Quite confident in corners, though if you push it too hard they do get a little chirpy. When you push them hard into the corners they don't really let go, they lean into it and roar a little but keep gripping though there is a moderate amount of understeer that goes away when lifting the throttle. On-road Wet - Despite good dry performance, these tyres are completely different in the wet. If you accelerate strongly, these WILL break traction very easily if you're in 2WD. You could quite confidently drift these round a roundabout, which is great if that's your goal, however the slight understeer that's noticeable in the dry becomes significant understeer in the wet if you really throw them into a corner. Wet weather braking is poor, firm and continuous braking is preferred to stomping on the pedal. If you need to, the ABS will go nuts and you'll take a while to bring it to a halt with some definite skidding from the fronts. Take it easy in the wet is what I'd advise, these have very little grip and the lost of grip is not progressive like in the dry, they break traction very easily and very suddenly. Off Road - Absolutely stellar performance offroad. I thought the relatively dense middle blocks would let it down but I was surprised at how incredibly capable these tyres were. I only got stuck once on an off camber, steep incline where it was cross axled in some ruts. Otherwise they just claw their way up anything! Drop the pressures and the side lugs really grip extremely well. They are amazing on soft dirt and in mud, quite grippy on dry rock but like on-road, very slick on wet/muddy rocks. On sand they bog in noticeably but keep your speed up and they'll do great. Noise - Holy heck these these things are noisy. Very very loud tyre noise at literally all speeds including slow speed. You can actually hear the tread blocks slapping the pavement. It's about as quiet as you'll get it 40-50 km/h where it's just a hum inside the cabin. 80 is loud, 100 is very loud and anything past that is straight up roaring in the cabin. You need to elevate your voice to speak to anyone at 100 km/h, overall this makes long journeys extremely tiring. Wear - Incredibly good wear. These have lasted 5 years now and still have 8-9mm tread left. They've been rotated about every 10,000km. Honestly I'm wondering when they'll wear out haha. I would imagine the harder compound is what contributes to the poor wet weather performance, but I've just adjusted my driving in the wet and not had an issue.

They work hard on the cruiser constant load as it’s my field service Ute . Just grips the dirt wet or dry along the windy gravel roads around Oberon . Then you hit the black top and it’s like being on rails all day long . Maxxis for life baby 🤘👊🙌💪

Ive done 2 trips to wa from vic on these tyres, one trip spent 8months exploring the north of wa. One trip up to qld lots of offroading. And it was my daily driver for 18months. In desperate need of a new set now but they have done so many kms on all different terrains and i can not fault them

Only done hard off-roading and rock crawling and these tyres out perform the rest. Drove up hills with ease the rest couldn’t. Could only put it down to the tyres. There was no skill needed. Will be definitely sticking with maxxis

Have had bighorns on my 99TJ for a few years now, definitely the best tyre I’ve owned for off road, excellent in sand / muddy tracks where I spend most of my time, definitely recommend big horns (also have a few mates running them that love them

Good tyre if your predominately off-roading or live on average! Good on the beach to only real downsides were the wet performance and the trees wear could be better. Definitely not the worst I’ve seen
