Nitto Ridge Grappler® A/T Reviews

Nitto Logo

The Nitto Ridge Grappler® represents the next generation of the Grappler family, blending the durability of the Trail Grappler® M/T with the comfort and longevity of Terra Grappler® A/Ts.

Key Features

  • 2-Ply or 3-Ply - All imperial sizes and a selection of metric sizes use heavy-duty, 3-ply construction while most metric sizes use a lighter, 2-ply construction to increase comfort and flexibility while still achieving higher puncture resistance when compared to most A/Ts
  • Alternating Shoulder Design - Shoulder grooves are arranged in varied widths and lengths to clear mud and provide traction, joined by lateral Z groves to maximise traction
  • Reinforced Tread Blocks - Tapered tread blocks featured connecting bars to add rigidity and reduce tread flex under load
  • Variable Pitch Pattern - Advanced sound equipment as usedto create a pattern that's relatively quite and smooth on sealed roads for an aggressive off-road tyre

I tow a 3.7t van and the tyres have handled everything well.I don't push it in the wet but it feels happy at 100klms although not a heap of feedback in the front which I'm nit a fan off.But happy.

These tyres are on my 105 which is LSA powered and spends A LOT of time towing almost 3.5t, lived up in Cape York for years with them and am now in Tassie with them, They have never let me down, and work very well off road, they are also really bloody good on gravel and hang on to the black stuff quiet well. Had multiple sets of these tyres now, onto my second set on my cruiser and also my second set on my triton. Definitley would buy again but are getting a bit on the expensive side

Absolutely love these tyres, done a Tas to Queensland and back towing, fraser island, highway driving and everything in-between. Never let me down and kicksass at everything you throw at them. Im nearly due for my next set but unfortunately i cannot seem to be able to buy any in 2024. A little disappointing, due to this i may need to jump ship to the Toyo's if i cant get my hands on any.

Have been pretty happy all around with the tyres. On the hwy they preformed well in both the wet and dry through the life of the tyre, they brake well in an emergency, road noise was pretty good considering the tread patten ( could definitely hear them but the cruiser is not the quietest vehicle anyway). Around town they steer well around all the round abouts, they did become a bit slippery in the wet for the last 10000k or so and could noted the extra tyre weight off the line as for performance. Gravel road handling was ok nothing bad but nothing outstanding, the 3ply side wall did make the corrugations a little bit harsh, for the first half of there life they did like to pick up rocks (could definitely be an issue if towing a nice van or boat. Offroad performance was as you would hope for an A/T, not that they aged as well as I hoped for as performance in the mud/wet trails dropped off pretty quickly after 25000k or so Fuel economy was probably the biggest down fall for this tyre noted a 2L to the 100k difference over the KO2 this seemed to carry for the life of the tyre. I would of fit another set but none in stock in the size I wanted. I have been given option to go to the Baja boss A/T in 285/75r16 instead.

Excellent tyre! These are my second set I have purchased, first set were on my 2012 BT50 and did approx 80,000kms with no issues and still heaps of tread before I sold it. Best advise is to rotate regularly.

Initially I was super impressed with these, looked great, fair bit of rave. Good on road manner for probably the first 18-20k. But since then they’ve been like old cooper st’s. Starting to scallop already, howl when slowing from 60, current tread is at about 6mm so I’m only going to get 40-50k’s. Pretty disappointing considering I got 90ks out of my last toyo at2, which I’d happily go back to, they were amazing.

After a great weekend at Sundown National Park, I will have to say the Nitto Ridge Grapplers are the best all round tyre that I've used so far. On the black top they perform like a good road tyre should, even in the wet, off road they perform as you would expect of a decent mud tyre. So after a great weekend exploring, we aired up and cruised home smoothly and safely.
