I only drive on bitumen to go to work seldom off road/gravel. Given the road is bad with nicks and cuts everywhere and very winding up and down the hill still one would expect better value than 18599 needing replacement soon! Very good to drive on otherwise great braking and wet weather handling.

I dont understand why vehicle manufacturers release vehicles like the navara with rubbish highway tyres. There are a heap of great, cost effective all terrains availble that would increase vehicle capability straight off the showroom floor. Very baffling.

A new Ute has to roll out of the showroom shod with a set of something and Ute rubber is always going to be a hard set to choose for a manufacturer because of the use that the Ute will be put too? If you’re going off-road with a six inch lift you’ll be loosing the stock set from the get go and going with an aggressive tread. I have elected to stick with the factory Toyo’s as I’m on the open road and on the gravel most of the time. I’m an hour away from any stop-start traffic light driving. They perform very well on both the black stuff and the gravel roads, only letting me down in the wet on roundabouts every now and then but utes are light in the rear and roundabouts can be slippery. They offer a low rolling resistance and in return I’m getting 8.75 l/100km calculatored properly. I’ve done 45000km with one rotation and without a puncture and they’re driven with a purpose. There’s another 10-15K left in them but I should have rotated every 10k in retrospect. In essence a great stock tyre well worth considering if you’re staying on the hard stuff most of your time and want comfort and performance from a factory fit.

An all round good stock tyre on a new ute. Anyone wanting to do a lift n’ toughen up job would replace with a more aggressive tread from the start.
