Cooper STT PRO Reviews

Cooper Logo
The STT PRO is the most advanced extreme off-road tyre Cooper Tires offers, providing remarkable off-road performance without sacrificing on-road traction. Tested in the tough Australian Outback, it is ready for anything you throw at it.

Key Features

  • Flex Grooves allow the tyre to flex, dampening the impact generated by inconsistent terrain, giving you more flexibility, better off-road grip and a smoother ride.
  • Mud Scoops and Mud Release Dimples create air pockets to release mud and debris from the tread, giving you exceptional all-surface traction.
  • Raised Rubber Ribs and Angled Groove Walls work together to eject stones from the tread, reducing stone retention and providing more grip off-road.
  • On top of high tensile body plies, the STT PRO features Armor-Tek3 Construction - an additional third ply on an 8° angle. Unique Armor-Tek3 Construction is engineered to give you over 2.5 times* more tear and impact damage resistance by reducing the rubber gaps by 50% to give you peace of mind when driving off-road. *Compared to standard 2-ply tyres.
  • Advanced Silica Compound, formulated with the optimum content of chemically-coupled silica. This helps reduce cutting and chipping off-road while improving wet traction on-road.

So, I just changed my muddies and did not get the STT Pro’ again. 1) Expensive 2) Noisy as hell! 3) Dangerous in the wet! 4) Brittle rubber (after 5+years) causing chipping. Large chunks missing! 5) My first muddie, so want to experience another brand Overall the STT Pro’ are a good tyre and decent value for money, considering the long life. This comes at a cost as the somewhat “harder” rubber compound goes brittle over time and is prone to chipping in rocky off-road terrain. If you don’t mind that and perhaps wear them down in a shorter period any, this may not be an issue. I certainly did not experience that when the tyre was new. I spend a fair bit of time in the VHC, so the tyres did get a work out! The reason they lasted me this long is because I swapped them over with the OE tyres when not off-roading for a period of time. Definitely a very good mud tyre until the thread goes below 50%. After that they clog up an turn into slicks. They were my first muddies, so I don’t know how other perform when the rubber is starting to wear off. The two biggest downsides of this tyre is low grip in the wet on tarmac. Especially with age, it was becoming quite dangerous. The other downside is the road noice. When I purchased them I was aware that all Muddies are noisey, so I thought the Cooper’s were just normal…..having changed over now to the Yokohama Geolander G003, what a difference!!!

it feels comfortable as long as you drive on sand and mud, other than that, its very noisy, needs lots of balancing and very rough on roads.

My Coopers have been nothing short of amazing! When new they were simply the best tire I'd used. Grippy in dry and wet and off-road… In the mud they were fantastic! Relitively Quiet for the first 50000KM. I've always been a BFG guy until I tries these. I've got just over 100000Km on them at the moment and they are at about 1.5mm of tread left. Right now they are amazing in the sand on beaches... not so much in the mud anymore... I use them on my daily driver and weekend warrior. I'm now currently tossing up whether to go the same or try something different... Will be hard to go against them.

I have these tyres fitted to a Forest Firefighting vehicle. They perform admirably on road when driving long distances to and from incidents. They really shine through on gravel and off road. The vehicle is regularly driven on fresh Dozer tracks with sharp rocks and broken roots and sticks and it has not had a single puncture in 30000KMs so far. The traction off road on rocks, dry dirt and wet conditions is excellent.

I actually have Dicks Cepeks Extreme Country, and these are the closest to them. And I believe are made in the same place. The Extreme country are a pretty good tyre but very slippery in the wet on road. Other wise a good tyre, bit pricey though. They are quite soft and I have small cut and tears, bits of side wall design tread being torn off from use in rocky and shaley country.

Had these tyres on the Patrol when living in far north WA. Many trips offroad in extreme Kimberley country and they were faultless.Long drives on bitumen to Perth while noisy was acceptable and the treadwear was excellent, no chamferring or chipping and all 6 tyres were even across the tread by the time I bought new tyres. Very good on WA gravel roads.
