Cooper S/T MAXX Reviews

Cooper Logo
The S/TMAXX was developed after three years of testing in Australia’s outback to give you the toughest all-terrain performance. Coupled with the famous Armor-Tek3 construction, the S/T MAXX will tackle anything Australia has.

Key Features

  • Micro-Gauge Sipes reduce cutting and chipping whilst improving traction in the wet, giving you enhanced stability and longevity.
  • Enhanced Buttress Design provides additional off-road traction and a rugged appearance, giving you abrasion resistance and sidewall protection.
  • Stone Ejector Ribs and Varied Channels easily eject stones and gravel, protecting the carcass from stone drilling and maintaining a clear tread for enhanced rough road traction.
  • On top of high tensile body plies, the S/T MAXX features Armor-Tek3 Construction - an additional third ply on an 8° angle. Unique Armor-Tek3 Construction is engineered to give you over 2.5 times* more tear and impact damage resistance by reducing the rubber gaps by 50% to give you peace of mind when driving off-road. *Compared to standard 2-ply tyres.
  • Silica and Natural Rubber Compound is uniquely formulated combining silica with natural rubber to reduce cut and chip off-road and improve wet traction on-road.

Have had these on now for 70k kms and wear is even and noise is the same as AT3 when recorded using a device meter. Have driven from south west WA to NT through Kimberly and across to Uluṟu. 1000’s of rough dirt roads without a hiccup. These tyres I was warned against but I have had nothing but excellent stories to tell. After 70k km there is 8mm left on the tyres doing a 4 tyre rotation. I can’t recommend highly enough!

Defining amount of noise Terrible uneven lumpy and bumpy tread ware which feels like you are rolling over a corse gravel goat track when moving around paved parking lotsDangerous, bloody dangerous in wet slip out from underneath you even when slowly accelerating from a stop and cornering very dangerous I will not let my wife drive it in the wet or have my kids in it in the wet it’s way to dangerous. Getting these things off the Pajero was the best tyre decision I have made

I purchased these tyres to replace the copper AT3LT which I got 100k out of, there is no noise difference between the tyres the tyres have exceeded my expectations for highway driving and they handle wonderfully in the wet. Off road I can’t fault them, they’ve done gravel rock and shale. I can’t rate them for beach as I don’t do beach driving but there’s no reason they wouldn’t perform given how well they do every where else.

I've had two sets on this Hilux (just ordered my third at 185K) and use the old ones with 10mm tread on a 4WD trailer, I tow heavy trailers on country roads a lot, average 20% off the bitumen, and since using these tyres (previously on a 200 series for similar Klm's) I have not had a side wall or any puncture. They hang on, great in the Mud and wear well, they get a little slippery in the last 3-5mm of legal tyre or around 80K, best 4wd tyre I've had on over 7 different 4wd's over 25 years.

Had these fitted to my Wrangler when it was pretty much stock and have had them for a number of years since. Great city driving manners and instantly noticed my Jeep felt more planted and stable when driving at highway speeds compared to the factory Goodyears that were fitted. These tyres have been through some tough off-road environments and have handled it easily. They preform well on moderate icy roads and cold environments also. Am currently looking to go to a set of 34 MTs but these are a solid hybrid there and definitely one I will have to consider rebuying in the larger size. Absolutely love them

Replacement for stock tyres that came with the new vehicle after they wore out. Thought I would give these a go over standard road tyres after reading a few reviews and some recommendations from a few 4WD drivers. Was doing a bit of off road driving on mainly gravel bush track and sand beach tracks, but nothing too onerous. Bit of gravel road driving around farming areas, little mud driving. Most has been bitumen highway driving and around town. NOISE: Bloody noisy is the first thing that struck me and they have got worse as time went on. Noise alone would be a reason not to buy. WET: Wet weather performance is abysmal, in fact scary, no confidence in ability to corner safely in these things. Will not let my inexperienced sons drive the vehicle in the wet with these on, afraid for their safety as could easily come unstuck even when driving to conditions. RESPONSE: Fairly unresponsive and lack of feedback. Quite a delay in tracking in the direction you are trying to go and can sometime suddenly kick in unpredictably. Very hit and miss and adds to overall poor driving experience. After 60,000kms am glad to see the back of them. Experiment failed. Now looking for a decent alternative with good wet weather traction.

Great tyre and after 8 years of some pretty hard 4wding I have next gotten a flat tire, these tires aren't loud at all and are a great all round tire. They are priced well for what you get.

Had these tyres for 3 years. Done around 15,000km and the front tyres need to be swapped. The rear ones have abit more tread but will swap them same time. I was told these tyres were the best when i purchased but very disappointed with treadwear. Where are these tyres that go offroad and last decent mileage. A guy told me his ko2's lasted 16,000km.

Drove some very tough and long tracks. Went very well. Wear toughness is amazing, also offroad. On tar and wet weather is a shortcoming. Need to be veery careful.
