Purchased just on 2 years ago. Great, even tyre wear. Just on 70,000kms on the tyres and still approx 8mm of tread remaining. Starting to get a bit noisy now at 8mm of tread remaining. Have done a significant amount of Sand driving, lots of mud and plenty of highway touring kms as well. Have had tyres down to 8psi and no issues with rolling off the bead.

Long term review of the Kumho MT51 in a 265/70 R16. I bought these aggressive AT/MT hybrid type tyres in 2017 as I was, at the time, part of a 4wd club doing regular trips and driving harder offroad. I upped the sized from the factory Bridgestone HT 245/70 to 265/75. Initially very quiet on road and exceptional grip on and off road. Heavier overall wheel weight (unsprung mass) increased suspension harshness somewhat but they performed best with the ute loaded for big trips. Several years later I am close to replacing the tyres. I am no longer offroading as frequently but often still dirt road tour. A less aggressive tread (and back down to a smaller diameter) would be all I need. The rears wore evenly but the fronts scalloped the inside edge shoulder blocks probably due to how the IFS moves through its travel. Later wheel alignment checks did not fix this issue. Rotating the tyres only meant the nice even rears got the shoulder blocks flogged on the front so the whole set is pretty noisy on road now with the uneven wear across the tread. Having said that, 60,000 unkind kms they have never slashed or chipped or punctured, kept the car pointing wear I aimed it and gripped when things looked improbable. Not too bad for the serious offroad tourer who might like to go where their car oughtn't.

I have had the KUMHO MT51 for the last 2 and bit years I have found them to be extremely noisy lots of vibration and you can feel every tread block touching the road at low speed. They have been good in the wet and in the dry for on road grip they have been great off road. however now that they are at the end of their life I am finding them quite slippery. The Tyre wear hasn’t been great I have 1mm to 3mm left on the tyres after 38,000km and have just changed them out for another brand...

Had them put on In Townsville drove all through outback QLD,N.T and S.A . Definitely the best tyre I have ever used hands down. I will be trying the new kumho Mt71 as I will be spending most of my time in Darwin slinging mud. I hope they are as good as the Mt 51's have been. I have had one blow out and that was running over a half buried star picket so I can't blame the tyre for that.

So far I have driven 40000kms with a set of 5 tyres that are rotated every 5000kms. The wear has been very even considering its a mud terrain tyre and expect to get many more miles. The secret is to rotate them. I have recommended them to friends who are also happy with them.

These tyres were purchased purely for the AT aspect of the tyre with the added feature of some sidewall protect, which is one of the better AT tyres with sidewall tread. They are quiet on the highway and continue to hold even in the wet, but put them to the challenge in the bush, desert or 4WD park and they will prove to you that they are not just an AT tyre. Like driving on sand, drop them down to 18-15psi and they bag out beautifully and provide the a fantastic flotation over the sand and effortless driving even for the likes of a 1HZ. I have had them up the beach, out in the mud and crossing the desert with no punctures or issues. If you are after an aggressive AT tyre then these are your choice for your next set of tyres

Bought near new second hand. are surprisingly quiet given the aggressive tread. Have worn well although I can’t give a true reading as I didn’t see them new, have done everything I’ve asked of them without a single puncture or chip. I drive about 50km a day to work and drive fire trails around 1-2 times a month with the occasional hardcore off-road adventures and they’ve stood the test. I find that they do clog up a bit with mud and aren’t amazing with traction when wet off-road but as for on road use I can’t say a bad thing!

Tyres have always been noisy from new! Terrible in wet weather conditions, as well as being awful in offroad conditions driving on rocky terrain.
