For a low profile tyre, I’ve found the Pilot Sport 3 to be durable and provide plenty of grip in all weather conditions.

I love the handling and grip afforded by these tyres. My only criticism would be that they have a vibration until they warm up, especially if the car has not been driven for a day or two.

Tyre is solid and safe, a little noisy however manageable. Would consider buying the tyre again, however might look at other options at the same time.

Using the pilot sport 3’s (PS’3’s) has been an eye opening experience and a great gateway into the realm of performance tyres.
Upon first being told (as a non enthusiast) that tyres can change your love for the hitting the road I would have laughed at the very notion.
However since purchasing my XR5 Turbo and discovering my inner enthusiast, I have learned to appreciate the extra length higher price point can take you in the real of tyres.
Hence my statement of the PS3’s being such a great entry point. The grip I feel whilst hitting the twisty roads is extremely reassuring, and also gives me the confidence to plant my foot when leaving. My car is no streetbeast making 400kw at the wheels. However it does have enough torque to put you in your seat and spin the wheels with lesser quality rubber wrapped around the rims.
Grip in the dry is sensational. In the wet however is slightly different.
Although they’re still nothing to sneeze at, they are a little lacking. This is evidenced when looking at the younger brother of the PS3’s, Michelin’s slightly newer Pilot sport 4’s. I do experience a little slippage, not a lot. But enough to limit my confidence in wetter weather.
The road can be a bit noisy with these tyres, however the feedback is incredible to the point of fault almost. You can feel everything, and I mean everything. Gravel roads are not friendly to your hands as every bit of aggregate can be felt. However, not enough to ruin the driving experience.
Treadwear is great. I’ve ran these tyres now for 35,000k kilometres and for a car renowned for being a rubber eater they’ve held up very well, only just getting to the point of replacement.
Would I use these tyres again you might ask. Well, yes and no. Yes I would use these tyres again without much second thought, but only if the newer and improved PS4’s weren’t an option. Which is really a testament to the consistency offered by Michelin and their product. But as mentioned above, I’d say no to the PS3’s if the PS4’s were an option.
All in all, great entry into performance tyres, with room for improvement in comfort. But if you can afford it and have access, I’d recommend giving the newer PS4’s a run.
