Tyres look great and drive well. But for the price the road noise from 90kph and above is quite bad. I had worn Bridgestone's on before and the Pirellis are much more noisy.

My stock Yokohama Bluearth E70 were getting old and I replaced them with Pirelli Scorpion MS. It is not common but there is a chance to drive on snow in Tasmania and I thought mud and snow capability might give me a little bit more confidence with my 2019 Subaru XV. It was a straight forward replacement from 225/60R17 to the same. It is alright so far but I have noticed a few differences and some people might be interested to know these before they decide to purchase Pirelli Scorpion MS.Tyre stiffnessIt is a lot softer than my previous tyres. It absorbs bumps really well and made the driving a lot more like a posh car. Nice. Handling is less peaky and I quite like the feeling of it. Again it became like a posh car. Forward traction is a lot better and I can stop the car a lot quicker as long as all tyres are pointing forward.Saying that there is a definite trade off here. It is too soft for fast cornering. I tested new tyres with this particular bend and it could do max of 100km/h before tyre wall/tread collapsed and traction control kicked in. Previous sets could let me go through the same corner with 120km/h max without traction control kicks in. Feels like jello compare to my previous tyres.MileageI mainly do highway driving around 105km/h for my commute for 30 minutes each way. It was 6.4L/100km on my car screen and it is 6.8L/100km. EU fuel consumption rating for both tyres are B but Bluearth E70 do mileage a lot better. I reckon higher traction is using engine effort a bit more now.Tyre noiseThis is the biggest selling point for Pirelli Scorpion MS. It is very quiet. EU road noise rating is A and 68db is quiet. Subtle but quieter than my previous set and they are B rating and 70db on their list. It feels really smooth and quiet. Posh.OverallI think it is safer with Pirelli Scorpion MS than Yokohama Bluearth E70. Well, I hope so and this is the reason I chose these. No pushing in corners and typical Subaru accelerating in corners to stabilise the car does not work as tyres are too soft for it. Not tested on snow or mud but I only occasionally need MS tyre function so this is more like an insurance policy for me. I avoid it as much as I can really. I am a city person and gravel roads are enough adventures for me. Good traction on gravel but I never speed on gravel so I do not think I can tell the significant differences in tyre ability on gravel.Hope this review helped.
